Trains by the window and inventive pasta in the lanes

The name Ishigami once disappeared from the line; today’s Ishigami Station took its name when Kawabukuro Station (川袋駅) was relocated and renamed in 1948. This small station sits among residential streets south of Fujisawa, with homes beside the railway and trains passing through everyday neighborhood scenery. You can extend your walk to Shinbayashi Park, but allow extra walking time: it is not a station-front attraction. The Former Kondo Residence is currently closed to the public and cannot be visited during improvement works.

Train murals, pasta and Shinbayashi’s greenery

Ishigami is a residential station without a restroom inside. To reach Shinbayashi Park, you need to walk a separate urban section; after rain, the mountain trails may become muddy; if you prefer a relaxed walk, simply stay on the main park roads and do not need to detour through the mountains.

What to look for in each section

    Shinbayashi Park

From the main garden path, view the green spaces, choosing a short walk based on your stamina.

  4. 04

    Former Koike Residence

Visit traditional Japanese countryside houses within the same park; entry is subject to opening schedule.

The Former Koike Residence is inside Shinbayashi Park, so the two stops do not require two long journeys. Move the restaurant stop to the return leg if its hours fit better.

THE STORY OF EN02

Trains by the window and inventive pasta in the lanes

The small station returns to the route map

Today’s Ishigami Station is linked to the relocation and renaming of Kawabukuro Station (川袋駅) in 1948. There is no grand tourist frontage here; instead, pause to see how closely trains pass the homes. For a longer walk, use a map to reach Shinbayashi Park. The Former Kondo Residence is currently closed to the public and cannot be visited during improvement works.

The fun of mixing and matching in spaghetti

SPOON’s signature Carpechino (カルペチーノ) combines carbonara with garlic-and-chili pasta flavors, while local shirasu also features in its cooking. Enoden trains outside the window give the meal the character of this little station—a relaxed lunch between Fujisawa and the coast.

If you also plan to visit Shinbayashi Park, allow time for both the walk and the park itself. A quick stop along the railway is not enough for a full park visit.

After rain, visitors may first choose to explore traditional rural houses and shorter walking routes; do not rush to complete the trail and compromise the return journey. General restrooms are open from 8:30 to 17:00, while restrooms located within the grounds of the traditional rural houses operate according to the same opening hours as 9:00 to 16:30.

Visit the historic house early, and do not assume parking is free

The old-style house closes at 16:30, so if you'd like to view the architecture, please visit it first before strolling around. The management has issued an announcement regarding adjusted parking fees; this page focuses on the Enoden walking route. Drivers are advised to check the daily announcement for updated parking information, as the previous guide's claim of free parking no longer applies.

Shinbayashi Park: historic houses and woodland trails offer different walks

Alongside its pond and wetland plants, Shinbayashi Park has about 1.5 kilometers of woodland walking trails. The Former Koike Residence and the nagayamon gate of the Former Fukuhara Residence are open 9:00–16:30 and closed on Mondays and over the year-end and New Year period; when Monday is a public holiday, the closure moves to the following day. For an easy walk, visit the historic buildings and pond first. Add the woodland trail if you are prepared for hills; the two routes are not equally flat park paths.
